Bournemouth is renowned for its seven miles of soft, golden sands and sheltered bathing waters, securing 4 Blue Flag Awards, a Quality Coast Award and a Green Tourism Business Scheme Silver Award in 2008. In addition, we have been voted Britain’s Best Beach by readers of Coast Magazine.

We have award-winning beachside restaurants, cafés, bars, water sports, beach games, amusements and piers, with a whole host of attractions and events throughout the year to fill the day.

To ensure your day on the seafront is stress free, we have scenic land trains to take you across the beach between Alum Chine and Boscombe. We also operate three cliff lift railways offering spectacular views as you travel up and down the cliffs. Enjoy fantastic walks along the cliff tops or promenades with some of the most spectacular views along the South Coast.

The seafront features two piers at Bournemouth and Boscombe. Bournemouth pier offers two new restaurants, an amusement arcade featuring all the latest games, bar, pier theatre and children’s entertainments. Traditional deck chairs are available together with regular excursion boat rides.

We have over 250 beach huts available for you to relax in by the day or week. And our famous blue and yellow candy-striped deck chairs, together with sunbeds and parasols are available across the seafront for you to use.

For your safety the RNLI Beach Lifeguard Teams and Volunteer Lifeguards provide constant surveillance between May and September. Along with the LV= Kidzone scheme operating in July and August.

Our Seafront Ranger team patrol the promenades and operate six beach offices at Alum Chine, Durley Chine, Bournemouth, Boscombe, Fisherman’s Walk and Southbourne. They are there to offer helpful, friendly advice and make your visit as enjoyable as possible.
